Nelson was born on January 31st, 1795.  Nelson's father was Micajah Bicknell and his mother was Phoebe Ann Landrum.  His paternal grandparents were William Bicknell and Rosanna Cash.  He was the third of seven children.  He had four brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, James, Young Landrum, Daniel, Mary Ann and Rhoda.  He died at the age of 34 on July 27th, 1829.
