Laura E. was born in 1886.  Laura E.'s father was William Roland Bicknell and her mother was Elizabeth Ann Nealy.  Her paternal grandparents were Sylvester W. Bicknell and Nancy Rose Bicknell.  She was the oldest of seven children.  She had three brothers and three sisters, named Owen, Hardin Green, Eual or Ewel, Nettie Alma, Sarah and Della.
