Amanda was born in 1858.  Amanda's father was Abraham Gum Baker and her mother was Elizabeth Warford.  Her paternal grandparents were Shird Baker and Elizabeth Betsy Asbell.  She was the second of four children.  She had two brothers and a sister, named William, James H. and Bessie.
