Raleigh was born in 1898.  Raleigh's father was Ross I. Asbell and his mother was Nancy Alice Bicknell.  His paternal grandparents were James Asbell and Paulina Bicknell; his maternal grandparents were Sylvester W. Bicknell and Nancy Rose Bicknell.  He was the youngest of two children.  He had a sister named Margaret.  He died at the age of 70 in 1968.
