Lester Elijah was born in 1886.  Lester Elijah's father was Moses A. Asbell and his mother was Leacy Ann Roberts.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Asbell and Rebecca Wilcox.  He was the fifth of nine children.  He had four brothers and four sisters, named William Dudley, Nathan Orlando, Lewis Lavette, James Shelton, Lula Estil, Leila, Mattie and Martha Viola.  He died at the age of 100 in 1986.
