Berendjen was born on April 30th, 1838 in Zelhem.1  Berendjen's father was Lammert Radstake and her mother was Leidina Buunk (Vaijers).  Her paternal grandparents were Joost Radstake (Ratstaak) and Wilmina / Willemina ((ook Aaltje)) Gielink (Bloemen); her maternal grandparents were Lammert Buunk / Burink and Jenneken Berendsen / Berendzen (Vaijers). She had two brothers and five sisters, named Willem, Gerhard, Jantjen, Jenneken, Aleida Willemina, Garritjen and Johanna.  She was the youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 85 on November 11th, 1923 in Warnsveld.2
