- ||His father died one year befor his marriage, left him the 380 acre home to be split equally between he an his brother William. Joseph died at age 40, leaving his pregnant wife and eight children, the eldest 15 years of age. Fortunately, he had three older brothers and two older sisters who helped his surviving family.
