Left to right: Winifred (Kathleen), Frank and Ethel
Paul Locks remembers Frank having a walking stick suffering from a shrapnel wound during the first world war but not during any active service. Blanche, would get petrol coupons to enable her to take Frank out for rides.
Rodney Locks says: "Mother, Blanche, would get petrol coupons to enable her to take Frank out for rides using petrol coupons during the last war made available to her in view of his disablement. When his wife died, Kathleen and Biddy dedicated their lives to looking after him and Kathleen was one of our baby sitters when we were in Loughton. We adored both of them and Clive and myself would cycle down on a Saturday morning to their home, 106 Roding Road, to do their garden. Clive may confirm but I think we got paid 6 pence (old money).
