  • He came to America about 1639 with his brothers. He
    was one of the founders of Branford, Conn. and then of Newark,
    NJ in 1666. On 11/27/1662, in the first Presbyterian Church of
    Branford, Conn., Thomas married Maria Harrison, daughter of the
    great pioneer Richard Harrison. Newark was the last Puritan
    Colony, Puritanism's last effort.
