    "The Merwin Family in North America" "Elizabeth was admitted to full
    communion in the Milford Church April 18, 1669 (MC1, P. 8), and was
    probably married in Oct. of that year. As a child she probably lived for
    some years in Windsor with her father's relative, Mrs. Abigail
    (Blanchard) Branker, as when the latter died in 1684 she left a larger
    share of her estate to Elizabeth than to other of Miles' children.
    In the will of her father, dated 1695, she was named as Elizabeth
    Canfield and her daughter, Abigail Canfield, was named as the child to
    receive the L10 given to the oldest child of each of his children. In
    the absence of any birth dates for Elizabeth's children, this would
    indicate that Abigail was born earlier than her brother Ebenezer
    Canfield, even though he was married in 1694 and Abigail not until 1700.
