    Will of Mathew Ball July-27-1833 probated 1835 Guernsey Co., Ohio
    
    The following is Mathew Ball's Will (son of Matthew Ball, son of Caleb Call II, son of Caleb Ball I, son of Edward Ball):
    
    In the name of God amen, I Matthew Ball of Guernsey County in the State of Ohio, being in perfect health of body and of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following that it to say - Firste and principally, I commit my soul unto the hands of Almighty God, and my body to the earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my executrix hereinafter named, and after my debts and funeral charges
    are paid. I devise and bequeath as follows. - I give and bequeath unto my son Daniel Ball of Monroe County Ohio the sum of one dollar. I also give and bequeath unto my son Matthew Ball of Washington County the sum of one dollar. - I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Nancy Gourley, wife of Thomas Gourley, the sum of forty dollars, to be paid on the decease of my Executrix. - I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Susanna Kirkpatrick, the wife of William Kirkpatrick the sum of fifty
    dollars. - Also I five and bequeath to my daughter Sarah the sum of fifty dollars - Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Ruth the sum of fifty dollars, which last three sums shall be paid when my youngest son John shall be of age, or the time he would be of age were he to live. - I also give and bequeath to my son Caleb Ball a tract of land known as the north half of the east half of the sourth east quarter of section number thirty two, in township number eight of range number eight of the lands sold in
    the district of Zanesville during his natural life, and after the death of my son Caleb to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten, in full property and fee simple. - I also give and bequeath to my daughter
    Margaret the south half of the east half of the south east quarter of section number thirty two, in township number eight of range number eight of the lands sold in the district of Zanesville, Ohio afore said and to
    her heirs and _____ forever. - I also give and bequeath to my son Thomas Ball the north half of the west half of the sourth east quarter of section number thirty two in township number eight of range number eight in the district of Zanesville aforesaid and to his heirs and _____ forever. - I also give and bequeath to my youngest son John the south half of the west half of the south east quarter of section number thirty
    two in township number eight of range number eight in the district of Zanesville aforesaid and to his heirs and _____ forever being the forty acres of land I now live in. - Also I order that my executor herein after named shall pay over at the time specified in this my last will and testaments to Nancy Gourley, Susanna Kirkpatrick, Sarah Ball and Ruth Ball the several sums I have bequeathed them. - I also give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth all my personal estate and the sole use of the three last named trats of land during her natural life. - and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my dear wife Elizabeth Ball to be Executrix and Thomas Gourley my son in law to be Executor of this my last
    will and testament, revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. In testimoney whereof I Matthew Ball have to this my will, consisting of one sheet of paper, set my hand and seal at the bottom or
    near there this twenty seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three. Mathew Ball (Seal) Signed, sealed, published and declared by Matthew Ball that above named
    testor is and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his requests, and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto. Daniel Pettary, James Lanam, Benjamin Street, Aaron Morris. ----Page first in lines fourteen and fifteen from the top erased the words "and my wifes thirds are taken out". Also in page two in the tenth line from the bottom erased words "Executrix and" before signing of and sealing The State of Ohio Guernsey County for Court of Common Pleas
    at March term 1835, The written will of Matthew Ball being brought into court. - Daniel Pattay one of the subscribing witnesses thereto being called came into court and being duly sworn in open court deposeth and saith that he saw the testator subsribed said will that witness subscribed said will as a witness in prescence of the said testor that the said testator when he subscribed said will was of sound mind and
    memory of full age and not under any restraint. At the same time and place came Aaron Morris one of the other subscribing witnesses to said will and being duly sworn in open court deposith and saith that he saw the testator subscribed said will, that witness subscribed said will as a witness in the presence of the said testator. - that the said testator when he subscribed said will was of sound mind and memory of full age and not under any restraint. I hereby certify that the forgoing testimony was taken in open court on the thirtieth day of March A D 1835 that the said will was approved by the court and ordered to be recorded together with the testimony taken to prove the same.
