Walter Narramore lived and died in Ideford, Devon. He lived to the ripe old age of 99. No details are known of his parents. He married twice but the date and place of the first marriage or the name of his wife is not kmown but it is known that he had three children, Bartholomew (abt 1600) Thomazine (abt 1610) Ibbot (abt 1615. His second wife was Joan Wilcocks and they were married at Ideford 25 Feb 1641 (When Walter would have been aged 81and Joan about 21) Despite his age he went on to father another six children in a period of ten years!! Joan (1641) Walter (1642 who died the same year) Richard (1643) Agnes (1646) Walter (1649) Maria (1651).  Walter died in April 1659. His wife, Joan lived until 1698  There is a floor stone in Ideford church which reads....

Here lyeth ye body of Walter Narramore of this pish, yeoman who was buried ye 20 day of April 1659 aged 99 years. Also ye body of John Narramore of Kingskerswell grandson to Walter Narramore who was buried ye 4 day of February 1687 aged 55 years

He also left a will, the main details of which are as follows......
Ten shillings for the poor of the parish of Ideford to be distributed at the time of his funeral
Ten shillings towards repairs of the church.
The property called Chubstone (otherwise Scotland) in Sheepstor which was purchased from John Elford to pass to his sons Richard and Walter and his daughter Agnes when they are twenty one and that his wife Joan shall enjoy the property until that time, providing she remains a widow and pay three pounds a year to said sons and daughter by quarterly payments. Richard, Walter and Agnes are also to have £5 a piece when they are twenty one.
His daughter, Mary Northmore is to have £70 paid to her at the age of twenty one.
All other goods and chattels to go to his wife Joan who is also sole executrix.  Willian Wilcox of Sheepstor and John Endacott (son in law) to be overseers in trust and for their pains will receive ten shillings a piece.
Also at the time of sealing he adds that he gives ten shillings to daughter Thomazine, the wife of George Foster of Brent and the same to his daughter Ibbot, the wife of  John Endacott and to his son Bartholomew Northmore to be paid within six months of his decease.
There was also a memorandum dated 14 Sept 1658 which said that a legacy made to his daughter Johane before she was married was to be struck out as she now had a greater portion than the legacy.
The will was proved at London 8 June1659
