His paternal grandfather was Robert William Reid and his paternal grandmother is Mary More; his maternal grandparents were Jesse Twist and Hannah Rothwell. He had five brothers and a sister, named William, Hugh, Robert, Richard, Fred and Marion. He died at the age of 59 in October 1955 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.-
