    Yes, I am referring to Albertine Fina Duncan (1862-1943) (I have her listed as Albertina and 'Fena' being a nickname of this.) Her parents are Joseph Duncan b 1808 in Pennsylvania and Helen Odelia Wedeman, born 1834 in Covington, Lackwanna Co. PA. I am still tracking down her death, but I think it is 1914.
    
    Helen is the eldest sister of my great-grandmother Phoebe Jane Wedeman. Their parents are Thomas W. Wedeman and Jane G. Anderson. The Wedeman family came from Lackwanna County PA to Lodomillo Township, Clayton County, IA in 1854 soon after the mother, Jane, died.
    
    Helen appears to be quite a character, as she was married four times, always preferencing very much older men. Her first husband, William Arnold, I don't know much about, as she married him in Pennsylvania in 1852 and he died only a year or two later, but they had one son, Thomas, in 1853. She then married Sargent L. Field in 1855 (she was still only 21, he was 41 and several of his children living with them were older than she was! Helen had one child, Lila May, in 1857, who appears to have died in infancy. She and Sargent then divorced about 1858, as both were remarried by 1860. That marriage was to Joseph Duncan, who was 52 to Helen's 26 and they lived in Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo County, IA. She had three girls with Joseph - Albertina, Isobel (who was called Rosa) and Juliett. Albertina married very young and took off for Texas, as you no doubt know. Juliett married similarly young to Joseph Rhines and lived most of her life in Elk, Clayton Co, IA. I haven't yet tracked down Rosa's husband, but she was still alive in 1913 when Juliett died. I believe she remained in Delaware County, IA. Albertina's half-brother Thomas Arnold also remained in Delaware County all his life.
    
    Helen came by her colorful character naturally, as the Wedemans were a very colorful group all around! One of the livelier characters was Peter Wedeman, a German abducted off the streets of London by a press-gang to fight in the Revolutionary War. He then switched sides after being captured by the Americans and stayed on to settle in Lackwanna PA. There are accounts (which you may be able to track down on the internet) of him walking down the streets of Manhattan, dressed in bearskins. There was also a very long, lively exchange between him and the US government in the early 1800s when he thought he ought to be due a pension for fighting in the Revolutionary War, despite having started out on the wrong side!
