Benjamin Dover, 1st Earl of Doverton was born on 16 May, 1321. He was the son of Sir Charles Dover and Jeanne d'Eudont, Countess of Bretange the illegitimate daughter of Louis III of Bretagne and Jeanne Escargonne. He married, firstly, Maude de La Pouffe, daughter of Morgan La Pouffe and Matilde Flourissant. He married, secondly, Margaret de Montacute, daughter of William de Montacute, 2nd Earl of Salisbury and Cathrine Grandison in 1344. He died on 16 Aug 1384 in Friar's Abbey, London, Middlesex, England.
