Elsie A. Underwood, 94

Elsie A. Underwood, 94, of North Central Avenue in Campbellsville, died at 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Daughter of the late Henry Underwood and Susan Arnold Underwood, she was born on Sept, 1, 1910 in Taylor County and was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church.

She was married to Bennie Underwood on Dec. 23, 1929. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1984.

Survivors include two daughters and two sons and their spouses, Essie and Junior Vance of Buffalo, Commie and Bobby Caulk of Campbellsville, Heistand and Carolyn Underwood of Louisville, and Garland and Polly Underwood of Elizabethtown; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Laveda Mardis of Campbellsville; and one sister-in-law, Jessie Underwood of Campbellsville.

She was also preceded in death by two sons and two daughters, Jack Underwood, Joe Underwood, Mona Brewer and Lovie Brewer; one great-grandchild, Aaron Brewer; and three sisters and two brothers, Ethel Lewis, Sadie Brockman, Ada Underwood, Bradley Underwood and Monroe Underwood.

Funeral was Wednesday, Oct. 27 at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Eudell Stilts, the Rev. Danny Nelson and the Rev. Lawrence Brockman Jr. officiated.

Pallbearers were Billy Brewer, David Clifford, Tony Dupps, Chad Keltner, Junior Vance, Cory Wood, Johnny Underwood and Scott Underwood.

Honorary pallbearers were Harold Atwell, Charlie Brewer, Shaun Brewer, Robby Caulk, Mark Clifford, Brian Keltner, Adam Wood, Bobby Wood and Roger Perkins.

Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.
 
1939 - 1988 Joseph Ray Underwood 49 49 Joseph Ray Underwood, 49, 315 North Columbia Ave., Campbellsville, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 1988, at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington after a short illness.  He was the son of Elsie Underwood, who survives, and the late Bennie Underwood.  He was an employee of the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home and was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by his father in 1984 and a brother, Jack Underwood, in 1971.  He is survived by one son and one daughter, Scotty Underwood, Campbellsville, and Carla Jo Morgan, Lebanon; two brothers and four sisters, Garland Underwood, Elizabethtown, Mona Brewer and Lovie Brewer, both of Campbellsville, and Franklin Hiestand Underwood, Essie Vance, and Connie Caulk, all of Buffalo; several other relatives and friends.  The funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.  The Rev.
