‌John S. and Nancy Ann were married in a religious ceremony on July 16th, 1853 in Marshall Co., AL..  They had five sons and six daughters, named William Silas, David, Thomas, Amos F., James, Mary E., Rutha, Josie, Nancy, Fannie and Christine.
