John Charles was born in 1849 in Logan Co, KY. John Charles' father was Richard L. Boyer and his mother was Alzada Roberts. His maternal grandparents were Charles Roberts and Lucy Townsend. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Valentine, James R., Robert L., Henry, Lucy A., Druciler, Drucilla D. and Mary M.. He was the second oldest of the nine children.General Notes
