Narrative
A note recorded in the family Bible reads "D.V. Hammond died inAndersonville Hospital Georgia of scurvy and dissenery (dysentery)October the 31st after being a prisoner of war nearly 12 months." Hemay have been in other prisons earlier.
A record of a W. Hammond of the 20th Pennsylvania Company K who died18 Dec 1864 in Andersonville Prison was located, but no relation isknown.
