SEA RANCH--Gary Lee Wilson, field operations supervisor at The Sea Ranch,
died Friday of Cancer in a Santa Rosa hospital. He was 40. A native of
Sebastopol, he was known for his devotion and ability in maintaining the
5,000 acres of the coastal community, as well as developing new trails
and roads there. "He had a flare for the landscape, to keep it so
natural," said Toni Wilson, his wife of 20 years. He graduated in 1967
from Analy High School, where he received honors and scholarships for
athletics. He attented Santa Rosa Junior College, then entered the U.S.
Army's officer candidate shcool at Ft. Benning, GA. He served in the
military five years. He worked for the Sonoma County Publics Works
Department and Piombo Corp. before taking the position at The Sea Ranch
in 1980. He was a member of The Sea Ranch Volunteer Fire Department. He
enjoyed steelhead and salmon fishing as well as diving for abalone.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Shannon Celeste
Wilson and Gary David Allen Wilson, both of The Sea Ranch; his parents,
Roy and Bonie Wilson of Sebastopol; two brothers, Douglas Wilson of
Forestville; a sister, Barbara Nichols of Santa Rosa; and four nephews
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Community Church of Sebastopol.
Arrangements, including full military honors, are under the direction of
Pleasant Hill-Analy O'Leary Mortuary.
