Name spelled "Lysabeth" in document dated 1/31/1654 registered in the Schepen Court, Register of Appointment of Guardianship and Division of Estates, Hasselt, Overijsell, The Netherlands (Source 4, page 27).

With two of her daughters by Gerrit Gerritse Lansing and all three of her sons by him, Lysa(e)beth Hendrikse emigrated to Beverwyck before (but about) September, 1655 aboard the ship Gelderse Blom (Source 5, page 7 and Documents Relative to the Colonial History of New York 14:334).

I believe that Aeltien Lansing came to America at any earlier time to marry Gerrit van Slichtenhorst, but have no evidence to support this assuption.

She and Wouter Albertsz (van den Uythoff) made a will on June 4, 1678 when she was described as "sickly". She probably died before 10/3/1679 when her three sons and the husbands of her three daughters gave a power of attorney in Albany to collect their inheritance from their father's property in the Netherlands and no mention is made of her in that document (Source 5, page 7 and Early Records of Albany 2:64-65).

While the suggestion exists that she was a member of the ten Kate (Cate) family, no definitive evidence exists to support this hypothesis. If she was a ten Cate, she would be the daughter of Hendrick ten Cate. Evidence of a ten Cate relationship includes: (a) her children appointed their cousin, Jan Barentse ten Cate to collect their inheritance in the Netherlands; (b) her first husband had interests in Vriesenveen, since the ten Cate family lived in Borne and Vriesenveen. The Meynert Hendrickz mentioned as a guardian in the 1/31/1654 prenuptial agreement was probably her brother. "A ten Cate family was settled in the small village of Borne, near Almelo, in ... Overijsell... Hendrik ten Cate living there had a son, Barent who acted as his brother Hendrik's witness at the latter's marriage in Amsterdam in 1640. Jan Barentsz ten Kate, the cousin of the Lansing family in America was undoubtedly a son of Barent Mentioned above. This Jan ten Cate "op t Friesenveen" (a village near Almelo in Overijsell is confirmed in the Dutch Reformed Church at Zwolle in 1678 and marries at Windeshiem (near Zwolle) June 2, 1678 Hermanna Menso. They had two children: Bernardus (=Barent) and Elizabeth Aleida ten Cate, both baptised in the Zwolle church. This family first to the Baptists. It is therefore possible that the Lansing family professed the same religion, which might explain why the church registers at Hasselt fail to enumerate any memebers of the Lansing family (subsequently found to be false)" (Source 4, page 57).
