After the death of William, Sarah is found on the 1869 census of Scott County, Virginia residing with her daughter in law, Harriet uillen Addington, Wife of son James. Sarah is listed as a spinster-one who spins wool and Harriet as a wweaver. In Sarah's later yers, she gained so much weight that a canoe was constructed to float her down the reiver to Church.
