he signed the Agreement of those who intended to remove from CT to MA, dated at Hartford 18 Apr 1659, residing at Hartford at the time; Signed the 8 Oct 1660 Hadley agreement to build a home on his land west of the river by 29 Sep 1661. 1663 resided west of Main Street between William Goodwin and Samuel Moody owning 40 acres. Signed the petition 1669 against the taxing of produce sent down the river. Represented William Goodwin in court and looked after his affairs in 1669. Signed petition Oct 1672 to General Court for enlarging Hadley. In 1666 was elected Hadley Townsman or selectman

He became possessed by vote of the town of the original right of Bartholomew Greene, forfeited by death; chosen surveyor of highways 1656. Was one of the first settlers on the east side of the river and the largest landholder in Hartford. "He owned a tract of land (in East Hartford) extending from near the present Hockanum bridge north to the neighborhood of "Smith's Lane: and running eastward to the end of the three mile lots." Crow Hill in the river swamp still retains his name. Went with his father-in-law to Hadley 1659; freeman Mass.1666; returned to Hartford about 1675
