!Obituary, May 10, 1924:

!The flag at the City Building is flying at half mast today and a bit of
black crepe is draped neatly over the Stars and Stripes on the door in
tribute to Armintha Coy, aged and faithful caretaker of the City Building
for about thirty years. She answered the call of the death angel on
Saturday night at the Bowling Green Hospital after being bedfast for
about six months.

!She has been in ill health for many years but continued her work on the
grounds and about the building with a faith and zeal that characterized
all of the years of her life. Last December she ws taken seriously ill
and she never regained the strength to return to her work.

!The funeral will be held at Young's Chapel Tuesday afternoon at two
o'clock with Rev. Purdy Van Wleklin officiating. She will be interred in
the Oak Grove Cemetery.

!Armintha Kellogg was born in Cuyahoga Falls on the eighth of January in
1849 and died at the age of seventy-five years, four months and two
days. Early in her life her parents died leaving her as the oldest
daughter to take care of a family of children. After a few years, she
went to Massillon where she worked for some time. On September 19, 1869,
she was united in marriage to Lafayette W. Coy and they moved to a small
hamlet near that city.

!In 1887 they moved their place of residence to Bowling Green where they
had lived ever since. Mr. Coy took a position as janitor at the City
Building, but when the new building was finished in 1893, Mrs. Coy was
given the job and she held it ever since, a total of about twenty-seven
years. Mr. Coy passed away on December 11, 1913.

!There are few people who do not know of the wonderful work of Mrs. Coy in
taking care of the City Building for those many years and especially the
way that she kept the flowers of the place in such beautiful condition.
Each day the busy business man, the husky farmer, the tired clerk, the
loving mother and the happy children who passed by would notice her at
her labors about the structure trimming the flowers and weeding the beds,
and caring for the lawn. That was her hobby; to keep the flowers of "her
yard" as nice appearing as possible. Time after time she would spend her
salary as a janitoress to buy more flowers for the city or to purchase
some thing that she could improve the yard with.

!It was through her work that the City Building and the yard around it was
one of the beauty spots of the city. It was her untiring and unselfish
devotion to her work that made the city officials learn to respect her.
Her unselfish manner brought her a large circle of friends who deeply
mourn her death.

!During the last few years, her ill health tempted her to give us but her
industrious nature would not leave her do so and she worked up until the
time that she took to her bed for the last time.

!She leaves to mourn her death three children; Mrs. Anna Rogers, Viola Coy
of Bowling Green and H. G. Coy of Cleveland.
