Said to be descended through the Dungans of Dublin from Edward III; he died when wife was about 25; left children 10 lbs apeace.
Will of William Dungan 13 Sep 1636-5 Oct 1636; executrix wife Frances. Overseers: Mr. Thomas Gibbon, and Mr. Samuel Smithl To each child 70 lbs - vis: to Barbara, William, Frances and Thomas Dungan; to be paid at full age or marriage of each. If any child die, survivors to have his or her part. To wife, the government of the children's portions, and all other my estate during widowhood. If she marry again she to give good security to the overseers for true and sure payment of legacies to children. To wife, all other my estate, be it in goods, chattels, leases, ready money, plate or other sufstance whatever. To overseers 10 shillings to buy themselves rings.
18 Jan 1656: His widow being now the wife of Rev. William Vaughan, entered into an agreement with her son Walter Clarke, through his guardians John John Cranston, and James Barker; who are called his "brothers-in-law." (John Cranston had married Walter Clarke's own sister, and James Barker had married Walter Clarke's half-sister (Barbara Dungan.)
By this agreement Walter Clarke was to have dwelling house where Mrs. Vaughan lived, garden, orchard and certain lands which was his inheritance, but possession to be had by his mother till 29 Sep or till tobacco was cured. The house where Capt. John Cranston lived was to be his; as appeared by deed. Mrs. Vaughan was to pay all her debts, and for that purpose had half of a house whiich she was to sell, and she also had certain lands, household goods, etc. for herself and the rest of Jeremiah Clarke's children other than Walter.
William Dungan's widow (Frances) was buried in Newport Cemetery.
