South Royalton - Funeral services for Ada (Thompson) Hyzer, 75, will be held at the United Church here Sunday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Steven Winkler officiation. Mrs. Hyzer died Wednesday at the Manchester, New Hampshire hospital after several months of failing health.
She had been a resident of South Royalton for over 50 years and was born in Woodstock, Vermont on February 10, 1900, daughter of John and Hattie (Howard) Thompson.
Hattie Thompson died when Mrs. Hyzer graduated from Woodstock High School in 1918. After graduation from a teacher training course at the high school, she taught in schools in Barnard, Tunbridge and South Royalton.
She was a member of the United Church here and served as treasurer for several years. She was also a member of the Rebekahs.
Since 1948 she worked for Eaton and Eaton Co. as a bookkeeper. She also worked in the community Restaruant and Thrift Shop.
In 1923, she married Will Hyzer and they operated a dairy farm and milk delivery route in South Royalton. He died in 1930 (1931 ?)
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nathan Netsch of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Mrs. Melvin Ruesch of Mutchen, New Jersey; one son, the Rev. Earl Hyzer of Woodstock, Vermont, a sister, Ethel Thompson of Woodstock, Vermont, and 14 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the United Church here Sunday, prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The family requests that contributions in her memory be made to the Elizabeth Barnes Memorial Funds, in care of Hugh Witham, South Royalton.
Burial will be at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cabot Funeral Home of Woodstock, Vermont.
