!Bishop's Transcript, County Record Office, Exeter, ENG.On 18 Aug 1611 Sarah,
dau. William Clapp was baptised. There is also an entry that John Scavell and
Margaret Clapp were married, but do not know whether Margaret Clapp was
related. From "Kestell Clapp:Cornish" written by Vaughan Cornish 1947 pub.
Sifton Praed, London. I read that Roger Clapp 1609 was the grandson of Robert
owner of Combe Wood in Salcombe Regis. Roger Clapp sailed in the "Mary & John"
in 1630 to New England. They sailed 18 days before Arabella Jewel Ambrose and
Talbot..as it was the first to arrive they chose the place of settlement to
which they gave the name of Dorchester. In 1665 Roger Clapp was put in command
of the "Castle" in Boston Harbour where he resided until his death in 1690. He
was buried in the graveyard of Stone Chapel Boston.
