‌James Owen and Ida were married in a religious ceremony in 1887.¹   They had three sons and five daughters, named James Hubert, Harry Fountain, Horace Kenan, Ada Cordelia, Opal Elizabeth, Claribel, Annie Louise and Ida Sue.
