Mary C. was born in 1856.1   Mary C.'s father was Jesse Welch and her mother was Mary.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Welch and Elizabeth Leach. She had a brother and two sisters, named William W., Elizabeth J. and Olive G..  She was the oldest of the four children.1
