John Stockbridge sailed on the "Blessing" 17 Jun 1635 with wife Ann and son Charles. Wife Ann born about 1613/4 dies about Feb 1642. John appointed Constable on 07 Mar 1642/3; Surveyor of Highways omn 04 Jun 1645 and 08 Jun 1655. Sworn as a Grand Juryman 04 Jun 1645 and 07 Jun 1648. John's home was the principal garrison in Scituate during the King Philip's War. His mill and pond were the subject of Samuel Woodworth's 1817 poem - "the Old Oaken Bucket" by which the pond is now known.
