Desire Doty 
Desire was born in 1645 in Plymouth Co., Plymouth, Massachusetts.1 Desire's father was Edward Doty and her mother was Faith Clarke. Her paternal grandparents were John Douty and Anne Holland; her maternal grandparents were Thurston (Tristam) Clarke and Faith. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Edward, John, Thomas, Samuel, Joseph, Isaac, Elizabeth and Mary. She died in Marshfield, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1 General Notes

On October 4, 1675, the COurt awarded Desire Sherman 20 pounds , "in reference to her husband William Sherman Junr., whoe fell destracted in the service of the country,... towards the releiffe of them and theire family, being by reason of great charges and necessities in great straightes." The reference by the Court on July 10 - 20, 1677 to "the low condition of the eldest (daughter)" in the distribution of 30 shillings from her mother's estate was prompted by this misfortune.
On December 30, 1680, the inventory of the estate of William Sherman was taken. On March 7, 1681/2, the Court settled the estate upon Israel Holmes, who had married desire Sherman in the interim.
