Laurel Oak Cemetery CA-CO, Windsor, Windsor Twp, Henry Co, MO
Mrs. Kate Cooper died at Oak Hill Sanitarium at Warrensburg at 6:30 a.m., Tuesday, where she had been taken following a motor car collision in Warrensburg, Thursday evening, January 17. Mrs. Cooper sustained severe concussions, fractured right wrist, lacerations of the face and some internal injuries. She had only a few days before closed her house in Windsor and gone to visit her son, Elton, and family at Warrensburg, expecting to be some weeks with her children before returning home. She with Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Cooper were on their way to attend the basketball games at the college, at the time of the accident. Miss Kathryn Cooper, deputy clerk in the Henry County treasurer's office, went Thursday evening to Warrensburg where she remained at her mother's bedside. Kathryn Jane McDonald was born February 12, 1870, the daughter of Francis Marion and Lucy Dyer McDonald, who lived six miles east of Windsor. Both parents died before she was ten years old and she and her brother were reared in the home of an aunt. September 20, 1892, she and Jefferson Davis Cooper were married, establishing a fine and worthy home north of Windsor in Johnson County where Mr. Cooper died in 1934. To them were born four children, Marion of Kansas City; Elton of Warrensburg; Perrin of Higginsville and Miss Kathryn of the home. Also three grandchildren survive. Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Windsor Baptist Church, a splendid Christian character, whose life was full to the brim with many interests. She was a loyal church worker and member and active in the D.A.R. Chapter of Windsor, where she moved after the death of her husband. She was an enthusiastic woman, enjoying the activities of her children as well as her own, and the big lard cans of coffee and many sandwiches made for the Young Democratic celebrations will be remembered with grateful appreciation by those whom she so willingly helped to make their meetings successful. A beautiful housekeeper, skilled in all domestic arts, she met life with a zest and from her abundant energy inspired all who knew and loved her. She was indeed an unusual character, possessed of noble virties and high ambitions, loyal to her friends, her children and her God, and no eulogy is too rich in praise of her. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. George R. Timbrook of the Windsor Baptist Church at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, with burial in Windsor.
