Lee, Richard Bland (1761-1827) — Born in Prince William County, Va., January 20, 1761. Grandnephew of Richard Bland; first cousin once removed of Richard Henry Lee; brother of Henry Lee and Charles Lee; third cousin of Zachary Taylor; granduncle of Fitzhugh Lee. Member of Virginia state legislature, 1784; U.S. Representative from Virginia, 1789-95 (at-large 1789-91, 4th District 1791-93, 17th District 1793-95); judge in District of Columbia, 1827. Died March 12, 1827. Original interment in private or family graveyard; subsequent interment at Congressional Cemetery, Washington, D.C.; reinterment in 1975 at Sully, Chantilly, Va.

LEE, Richard Bland, (brother of Henry Lee), a Representative from Virginia; born at “Leesylvania,” in Prince William County, Va., January 20, 1761; pursued English and classical studies in private schools; attended the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va.; member of the State house of delegates 1784-1788; elected to the First, Second, and Third Congresses (March 4, 1789-March 3, 1795); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1794 to the Fourth Congress; again a member of the State house of delegates 1796 and 1799-1806; moved to Washington, D.C., about 1815; appointed by President Madison in 1816 commissioner to adjudicate claims arising out of the loss or destruction of property during the War of 1812; appointed by President Monroe in 1819 judge of the Orphans’ Court of the District of Columbia and served until his death in Washington, D.C., on March 12, 1827; interment in the Congressional Cemetery; reinterment on the grounds of his home, ‘’Sully,” near Chantilly, Va.

Lee, Fitzhugh (1835-1905) — of Richmond, Va. Born in Clermont, Fairfax County, Va., November 19, 1835. Great-great-grandnephew of Richard Bland; grandson of Henry Lee; grandnephew of Charles Lee and Richard Bland Lee; third cousin twice removed of Zachary Taylor; nephew of Robert E. Lee (Confederate general). Democrat. General in the Confederate Army during the Civil War; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Virginia, 1876; Governor of Virginia, 1886-90; general in the U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War. Died April 28, 1905. Interment at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va.
