Henry was born on January 22nd, 1837 in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Henry's father was Thomas B. Colby and his mother was Mary B. Kelley. His paternal grandfather was Samuel Colby and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Partridge. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Francis O., Alfred E., Lewis R., Sarah E. B. and Mary E.. He was the second oldest of the six children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Henry Sherburn, Alred E. and Sarah E.B.. He died at the age of 36 on August 26th, 1873 in California.General Notes
