General Notes

John Craggin was transported to Massachusetts by the British as a prisoner of war after battle in Scotland. He and 270 other prisoners were landed at ?Charlestown where they were consigned to Thomas Kemble, and sold as slaves. The Reverend John Mather later wrote that those who bought them built houses for most of them, requiring that they work three days for the owners and four days for themselves, promising liberty to each of them when their debts had been paid.
