Dirck Evertse Van Eps, born about 1603, was the son of Evert Van Eps and h
is wife, Geeskie. Dirck was a shoemaker in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Aft
er he died in 1647 his second wife, Maritie Damen, remarried and came to N
ew Amsterdam with her second husband, Hendrick Andriese Van Doesburgh, a
nd Dirck’s children, Lysbet and Jan Dirkse Van Eps. The family settl
ed in Beverwyck, which is now Albany, NY. Hendrick Van Doesburgh died befo
re 1664 and Maritie remarried shortly after this for a third time to Corne
lis Van Ness. Jan Van Eps, with his second step-father acquired Philip Hen
drickse Brouwer’s estate in Schenectady at an auction in 1664.
