Marguerite of was born about 1157 in Paris, Seine, France.  Marguerite of's father was Louis VII "The Younger" Capet and her mother was Eleanor d'Aquitaine et Poitou.  Her paternal grandparents were Louis VI Capet of France and Adelheid di Savoia; her maternal grandparents were William of Poitou and Eleanor Rochefoucauld. She had a brother and two sisters, named Philippe II Auguste of, Alix and Marie. She had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named William, Henry, Richard I, Geoffrey, John "Soft, Alys of, Eleanor, Joan and Matilda.
