Hildegard was born about 0934 in Laon, Aisne, France.  Hildegard's father was Arnulf the Great and her mother was Adelaide De Vermandois.  Her paternal grandparents were Baldwin II of France and Aelfryth d'Angleterre; her maternal grandparents were Herbert II Caroling de Vermandois and Liegarde (Hildebrande) of Neustria. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Count of, Baldwin III of, Egbert of, Ledgarde and Elstrude (Elftrude).


Hildegard's family with Dirk II of Holland

‌Hildegard and Dirk II of were married in a religious ceremony.  They had a son named Arnulf of West.
