BIOGRAPHY: Dominic was originaly from Menfi, Agrigento Province, Sicily. BUSCEMI is a Sicilian name. He moved to Italy, then France (where his name became BUSCHIER, a French name), and finally to England, where he died.
He appears on several lists of aliens during the reign of Elizabeth the First.
Loaned the Crown 100 pounds in 1588 at the time of the Spanish Armada [the attempt of the Spanish King Philip (the brother of Mary's mother, Catherine) to recapture England for the Roman Catholic faith]. This is the equivalent of some $20,000 in today's money.
According to wife Genevieve's will, he was living in the parish of St. Catharine Coleman and listed as a merchant, and a foreigner (a Frenchman born in Italy [Sicily]).
