General Notes
"The story is told that Sylvania Sumner`s father Absalom took her and two of her sisters to IN in a prairie schooner wagon equipped with a three legged stool for them to use to get in and out of the wagon. After presenting them with separate tracts of pioneer land, it is said that he told them to `scratch or die.`" Antedote credited to C. Pentecost, pentecostfamilyweb@@yahoo.com. Sources 4, 47.
