James and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on February 4th, 1817 in Surrey, Yadkin Co., NC. They had three sons and four daughters, named James, Joseph, William, Elizabeth, Margaret, Matilda and Mary Ann.

Margaret Jester
Margaret was born on May 5th, 1825 in Forbush, Surry, NC. She died at the age of 33 on September 26th, 1858 in Mt. Airy, Surry, NC.
Matilda Jester
Matilda was born on June 29th, 1831 in Forbush, Surrey, NC. She died in Bangor, Marshall, IA.
