"Marquis Calmes enlisted in the War for Independence as a Lieutenant and was promoted to the rank of Captain. He took part in the battles of Monmoth, Brandywine, and others and was also a General in the War of 1812. He first settled in Woodford County, Ky., on a tract of land that had been granted him by the Goverment, where he lived until his death in 1834. He represented Woodford County in the Legislature, and served as magistrate for many years." SOURCE: Darlene Eastin, darlene913@@aol.com (See link to her site on my home page.)
