MY NOTE: It is possible that my gg-grandfather Elkanah Hobson descends in some way from Elkanah II Cushman (b. 9/15/1678 dau. of Elkanah Cushman and Elizabeth Cole)) and Hester Barnes (b. 1681-1682 dau. of Jonathan Barnes and Elizabeth Hedge). I based this theory not only name similarities "Elkanah" "Barnes", but geography, family affinites, etc., but also on the fact that these ancestors also were among the first at Plymouth, MA. Elkanah's ancestor William Barnes (1679-1685 ) is thought to have been born in Ireland and not England; however, many were migrating throughout England, Ireland, and other parts of Europe during that time. However, this is only speculation on my part at this time.
