Cydrych was born about 1020 in Gwynfe, Llangadog Fawr, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Cydrych's father is Gwaithfoed de Ystrad. He is an only child.
‌Cydrych and Nest were married in a religious ceremony about 1040. They have two sons named Gruffudd and Cydifor.
