Llywelyn's father was Prince Llewelyn Fawr ("the Great") ap Iowerth of Wales and his mother was Princess Joan of England.  His paternal grandfather was Iowerth ("Drwyndwn") ap Owain Gwynned and his paternal grandmother is Margaret ferch Madog; his maternal grandfather was King John ("Lackland") I of England and his maternal grandmother is Agatha de Ferrers. He had five sisters named "the Dark", "Ddu", Elen, Angharad, Margred and Marared Drwyndon. He had a half-brother named Gruffudd.  He died on December 11th, 1282.  He was buried in Cwm Hir Abbey.


Llywelyn's family with Eleanor de Montfort

‌Llywelyn and Eleanor were married in a religious ceremony on October 13th, 1278 in Worcester.  They had a daughter named Catherine.
