Alfonso, known as "the Valiant", was born before June 1040 in Burgos, Burgos, Castile.  "the Valiant"'s father was King Ferdinand ("the Great") Sanchez de Leon I of Castile and his mother was Princess Sancha of Castile-Leon.  His paternal grandparents were King Sancho ("the Great el Mayor") Garcez III of Navarre and Princess Majora Munia Elvira Sánchez de Castille; his maternal grandparents were King Alfonso V of Leon and Elvira Menendez of Galacia. He had two brothers named "the Valiant", "the Brave" and Diego.  He died on June 29th, 1109 in Toledo, Toledo, Castile.


"the Valiant"'s first family with Princess Constance of Burgundy

‌"the Valiant" and Constance were married in a religious ceremony on May 8th, 1081 in Dijon, Cote-d'Or, France.  They had a daughter named Uracca.
