John was born about 1872 in Tennessee.1 John's father was William Alexander Wilson and his mother was Lucretia A. Maxedon. His paternal grandparents were Daniel Denny Wilson and Lavina M. Clayton. He has three brothers and three sisters, named Daniel D., Thomas E., Robert A., Mary J., Lilly E. and Margaret L.. He is the second oldest of the seven children. He has five half-brothers named Troy T., Nathenul Bledsoe, Orso, Walter and Lono.-
