Mary Elizabeth was born on January 28th, 1874 in McNairy Co., Tennessee.1 Mary Elizabeth's father was James (Jim) Wilkes and her mother is Rachel Hogan. Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Jackson Wilkes and Mary Ann (Polly) Basham. She had a brother and a sister, named John Robert and Maggie D.. She was the oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 72 on November 13th, 1946.1 General Notes
