Mary Elizabeth was born on August 1st, 1863 in Kentucky.1 Mary Elizabeth's father was Hiram Calloway,Rev. Underwood and her mother was Mariah Jane Sprowls. Her paternal grandparents were Calloway Underwood and Mary Ann Oaks. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Jerry B., John Thomas, Joel D., Lucy Ann, Caroline M. and Nannie White. She was the oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 83 on June 19th, 1947.1 General Notes
