M. J. was born in 1871.¹   M. J.'s father is John Thomas Underwood and his/her mother is Lydia Ellen Houston. He/she had a brother and two sisters, named John Thomas,Jr., Betty J. and Julia.  He/she is the second oldest of the four children.
